Wunderkind: Amazing Baby Swim Pics

When our firstborn was 5 months old, Daddy and I put her in a swim class where we immersed her overhead in water, and she did remarkably well.  Ever since, she has been a great lover of the water and a darn good swimmer.

Take a little time to become mesmerized by these peaceful infant swim pics found on the link below.  They’re adorable…and ethereal.  :)

The video is cool, too.  If you have an infant then these swim classes are wise.  The baby is made to feel comfortable with water, which will help her to stay calm and float in the event that she falls into a pool.

  10. i heard about this from my senior.at that time i didnt belive. but now i feel it as amazing one

  11. its not real!!! omg

  12. Every baby is born with the ability to swim you just have to give them the chance to find their fins!! 8D

  13. I’m pretty sure that babies don’t understand the concept of holding their breath. You’re an idiot and you’re lucky your baby didn’t drown.

  14. Your baby is so cute!!!!

  15. i wish my kids swam at that age! i am so jealous!

  16. you are so lucky to have been able to give your kids’ swimming lessons! i wish i could’ve done the same for mine.

  17. Hi. I don’t have kids yet,(thank goodness…i’m only 17)but i plan on having them. I hope to give them as much as you seem to give your kids! People like you are heros, not only for our kids, but for setting such a good example. One day, one of your kids’ friends will be close to drowning and your kid will save them. You are a good people.

  18. thank goodness i dont have thoes bitches

  19. im lost. how do you teach a child that young to hold their breath? or is it something in which you just take a risk? i have a daughter who is an amazing swimmer. she was definitely comfortable in the water at three months and on. With that said. I never put her under water. She knew how to float, at a very very young age, and swim at one, but she didnt go under water until i was 100 percent sure she could completely understand the concept of holding her breath. There was even a point when i was 99 percent sure she understood but i was not willing to take that one percent chance. Dont get me wrong this is not an anti-you post. Im simply just baffled and seriously interested in how you get a baby at such a young age to hold their breath. A friend of mine claims its as simple as blowing in the face before they go under for the first time….please tell me more…

  20. most of you are thinking what does she think we put them under there for hours the first time? no. i dont.

  21. i love this baby so C-U-T-E

  22. I’m sorry, but as the mother of a 4 year old and a 3 month old the thought of putting a five month old baby under water for even a second makes me so afraid I want to vomit. You do realize that a full grown person can drown in only two table spoons of water? Please reconsider, for your baby’s sake. You’re very blessed they have been safe so far.

  23. Beautiful and wonderful story and photo. It’s very sad that so many people are so unaware of the natural instincts and abilities babies are born with and the truly amazing things they are capable of doing right from birth. They were never “taught” how to suck when a bottle or breast was offered or cry to tell us when they needed something - yet they do all these things naturally - as does an infants ability to know to hold their breath under water when the right techniques are used to introduce them.

  24. Thank you, Toni, and well said. :) Dad and I both attended a baby swim class offered even at the local Y when ours was about four months old, and one of the exercises was going underwater with them just like these pics. We took her underwater for about 5 seconds the first time, and about 10 the second, and as long as needed afterward. She did just great because she could see our faces looking at her and smiling. From that point on, she knew how to hold her breath underwater and has always loved swimming, never afraid of water. All that benefit for about a minute of crying the first dunk. Babies are naturals in water, that is unless they’re taught fear. Healthy respect for safety is, of course, also just as important.

  25. Wow i didn’t know you can teach infants to swim. Is it safe?

  26. i love babies, they are so adorable and can do amazing things. they are really flexible when born, they can even do the splits!

  27. you guys are horrible people! What if the baby didnt like the water! 5 fricken months old. maybe you should have thought it out first… my god

  28. Come on… educate yourself before commenting. Does the baby look as though it doesn’t like the water or drowning and the mother doesn’t appear to be holding her baby’s head down. After all she lived for nine months in fluid and if you know anything about babies their natural instincts are very strong for up to 8 months after birth. We are the ones that destroy those instincts after they are born.

  29. Hey, i am 15 and i have a lil sis who is about 6 months and she attends baby swim classes, they also go under water for a few seconds and then reach the surface…..she loves it! its a babies natural instinct to hold their breath for a few seconds…and yes i wouldnt advise this without going to classes first…but the people who seem to think that this is a crime, u reli need to loosen up!

  30. Beatifull and amazing pictures!!!!

To those who feel the need to put their negative comments on without a thought, I advise you to do a little research first. This is a perfectly natural reflex for a baby and of course you noticed the distressed and horrified expression on this bubs face before you posted, didn’t you.

  31. for all those wondering about the baby being underwater I’d like to chime in with something.

The baby when in the womb is in water and so is used to it soon after being out of the womb. It doesn’t know to hold its breathe but it is used to the womb and therefore very comfortable and happy.

    Look it up. =)

  32. I have a brother, and he was a darn good swimmer from birth! Well…5 months. I just learned to swim a few years ago! I’m 12!

  33. So True- I have a story for you…
I started baby sitting at 13 and the lady I babysat for told me “Sure- You can take her swimming- just keep an eye on her- We trust you!” ..Great, she was a 6mo old cutest baby ever- she and I went to the pool while her mommy was at work- We spent a few hours there and by the time we left the pool, I had literally taught her how to swim!! -HOW? you ask… I don’t know other than quickly taking her under water- I would blow in her face first to make her take a deep breath, then we would go under together… Seemed really simple for both her and I. (of course I was 13 at the time) ~Then later on Mommy met us at the pool- She saw her 6mo old kid underwater and swimming- she about had a heart attack to think she could go under water and swim! It was definitely awesome, but she (mom) scared me so bad about teaching her to swim, that I was afraid to teach it to my own kids when they were babies when I had my own family. Don’t get me wrong- mom was so amazed and frightened at the same time- but really bragged about it later on. Her baby grew up to love the water and was always on the swim team. She is now in college and is a life guard during the summers. *Moms/Dads out there- If there was anything I could do over- that would be to have taught my own kids to swim at the same age- I was too chicken to teach any of my 4 kids how to swim until they were older. Don’t be afraid- Start with blowing air to catch their breath and take quick dips under water. …each time will get easier and they will want to do it more and more- then it becomes a game and before you know it..it become so easy and natural! :)
& your baby is so cute- and this is an awesome picture!
