About this blog
Galvanized is…
sparkling moments of clarity that manage to surface from the monotony and minutiae, the rote and routine that are my life – the rants, raves, and ruminations. These are clicks in my brain that I need to record right away before the magic dust blows off and I am unable to recall the gist of some “brilliant” revelation. They all, though, pertain to everyday life. I am convinced that, beneath the mundane surface of my life, there quests a philosopher.
I’m a wife of 19 years and mom of four kids, all of whom are my life. We are a pretty tight family even though we have our moments. My kids think that I am totally uncool, which lets me know that I’m doing my job right. LOL
I’m a Christian but often fall really short like everyone else. I’m not so much religious as I am spiritual. I’m conservative but don’t blindly follow the ultra-right. I hope I teach my kids the same. I was taught to think for myself. I learn something everyday. I love listening to debate and good arguments on just about anything. That doesn’t mean that I am wishy-washy, just that I respect educated opinions.
I LOVE to write. I’m a thinker…all the time. I like to philosophize. I am proof that one can handle deep thoughts with only average intelligence. Humor is my release and best coping strategy. It keeps things in perspective.
I have a little side business and do fine. It’s nice to be home for the kids. It’s required some sacrifices, but I’m thankful.
One of my mottos is the Irish proverb: “Do not despise growing old. Some are denied the privilege.” LOL I try to remember that each day is a gift. I’m pretty practical, keep my life fairly free of “stuff,” & live in the moment.
I’m sorry that I can’t keep this blog limited to just one category. I know that it would probaby have a better chance at success if it weren’t so random. However, I write about those things that touch my life. Plus, I am both ADD (which lends to the variety because I can’t focus on just one thing) and OCD (which lends to the energy, even if I am only chasing my own tail).
Welcome and enjoy!

Just began to read your blogs and am enjoying them. Check mine at http://where-we-live.blogspot.com/
I think your blog is great. I’m going to have to take some time in the near future to really check it out. Just don’t have the time at the moment. I would love it if you would contact me via my Email…I’m new at this, and seeing your blog with all the pictures. I’m wondering if you might let me know how you do that, and where you get the pictures. I recently figured out how to use YouTube…but nothing else.
Thanks
I am a mom too and I love your blog and would LOVE to tell you about some of my really fascinating clientele… You may feel inspired to write about them! Let me know!
hi do u have aim
This is cool. Thanks for the tip off (via doodles!)
Great blog. You, in my opinion, are doing the right thing. Anyone can focus on one topic and discuss it day after day - we call them PhDs. It takes a well-rounded, rather brave soul to dive “head first” (with their heart-felt opinion) into numerous controversial current events and describe how they affect our lives. Many people, in fact too many people, in todays society just sit back and let the “world” pass by without expressing their opinion; however, many of the same will complain when unjust (in their mind) consequences are bestowed upon them for their silence. It is time for the “many” to voice their opinions loudly enough to outweigh the few “squeaky wheels” which have gotten the “grease” for too long. More people, such as yourself, should “approach the mic” and encourage others to do the same so the majority will not remain in silence forever. In my humble opinion, BLOG ON.
Oh, I am personally inviting you to participate in the Festival of Frugality! I know you don’t necessarily focus on personal finance issues, but it’s right up your alley! Take a look at my post to see if you’d be interested! ^_^ Your friend in finance, Juan!
pretty sweet blog. I like the big RSS feed button up top, and the colors. Looked at your post about teenagers, thought you might like the graphic of teen brain development on page 27 of this http://www.allstate.com/community/Documents/chronic.pdf.

Wow, Nick, what a fantastic article by Allstate! Thank you so much for that information! That brain info. was the kind of graphic that I had been looking for, so I appreciate it.
Please make sure to be a regular visit here, OK?
Melanie - I am tagging you for a “Thinking Blogger Award”. I have had trouble uploading the logo which one should display when being presented this “honour”. Please find five other blogs of your choice to give this award to , propel the meme forward.
I do so enjoy the breadth of your interests and the honesty of your writing voice. Hope your summer with the kids and family is progressing well and you are all enjoying life! G
Thank you, G! That makes my week, and an honor it IS.
I will be sure to pass it on. And I will try to locate that logo because it means a lot to me, coming from you, such a fantastic and thinking writer/blogger yourself!
Fondly,
Melanie
Melanie - I have managed, with Steve Danko’s e-mail help, to put the logo onto my blog, so just cut and paste from there into your nomination blog! G
You have a great blog! I’m looking forward to looking around more.

Thank you, Kelsey
I appreciate your checking out the blog! It’s always nice to get feedback when someone enjoys a post. It really makes my day.
Sounds like we have a lot in common, though I’m not Christian. I am spiritual, a mother of two, and I love to think and write.
I know what you mean about having a blog that deals with this and that. People don’t know what to expect, and they stop visiting if they don’t see what they’re looking for on a particular day.
Your writing style is lighthearted and entertaining. I like your blog!
I just stumbled upon your blog. I love it. You are an excellent writer. You keep everything so interesting. You should become a writer or author of a book. I can’t say enough about all of your writings. Keep up the great work. I am so glad I found this site.
Marcia, thank you so much.
Your words are very encouraging and come at a good time! Please visit on a regular basis. And who knows? Maybe one day, with enough hard work, a book might happen. That’s always been my dream. Again, I appreciate your comment!
Melanie
Where did you find the article by Celia Gaillard. I’d like to read the entire essay.
Thanks!
Patricia, thanks for alerting me that the links no longer work. I looked around the Boston University website, as well as the Web, but the article is no longer listed. It was such a good one, too. I don’t know why they removed the page. But I will continue to look a little more exhaustively for what’s cited on that “Barbie” post for Gaillard and get it to you. And it WAS really interesting, too. Bummer!
Thanks for reading the blog!
Have a nice day !
You sound super cool. Your kids are very lucky. One day, they’ll realize that. It might not be too soon, but it will be one day, I’m sure.
